Quick and easy cheesy ham sliders with a sweet brown sugar glaze that balances savory ham and melty cheese for a cozy, comforting snack or meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 soft dinner rolls or Hawaiian slider buns
  • 12 oz (340 g) thinly sliced deli ham or leftover baked ham (Black Forest ham preferred)
  • 8 oz (225 g) sharp cheddar cheese, sliced thin (optional mix with Swiss or provolone)
  • 1/2 cup (115 g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup (50 g) packed dark brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • Pinch of cayenne pepper (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns horizontally in half, keeping them attached if possible.
  3. Layer the bottom halves of the buns snugly in a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  4. Arrange the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns (about 12 oz total).
  5. Top the ham with cheese slices (about 8 oz), layering evenly.
  6. Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese layer, pressing gently to compact the sliders slightly.
  7. In a small bowl, mix the glaze by combining melted butter, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk until smooth and glossy.
  8. Pour the glaze evenly over the assembled sliders, covering all tops and edges. Use a pastry brush or spoon to spread if needed.
  9. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil.
  10. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  11. Remove the foil and bake an additional 5 minutes to brown the tops and caramelize the glaze.
  12. Remove from oven and let cool for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

Do not skip covering the sliders with foil during baking to keep buns moist and cheese melted. Use a serrated knife and gentle sawing motion to slice without squishing. The glaze can be prepared ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 3 days. For gluten-free or dairy-free versions, swap buns and cheese accordingly. If glaze starts to burn, tent foil loosely during last 5 minutes of baking.
