A quick and easy honey Dijon glazed chicken recipe featuring a perfect balance of sweet and tangy flavors with a golden caramelized glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs / 680g)
  • 1/4 cup honey (85g)
  • 3 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: fresh thyme or rosemary sprigs for garnish

Instructions

  1. Pat the chicken breasts dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt and freshly ground black pepper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, whisk together honey, Dijon mustard, minced garlic, apple cider vinegar, and olive oil until smooth and well combined. Set aside.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add about 1 tablespoon olive oil. Warm until shimmering but not smoking.
  4. Add the chicken breasts to the pan. Cook undisturbed for 5-6 minutes on the first side until golden brown and caramelized. Flip carefully using tongs.
  5. Pour the honey Dijon glaze over the chicken in the pan. Reduce heat to medium-low. Spoon the glaze over the chicken repeatedly as it cooks for 6-8 minutes.
  6. Check doneness with a meat thermometer; internal temperature should reach 165Β°F (74Β°C). Alternatively, cut into the thickest part to ensure juices run clear.
  7. Remove from heat and let the chicken rest for 5 minutes to lock in juices. Spoon any extra glaze from the pan over the top.
  8. Serve the chicken garnished with fresh thyme or rosemary if desired.

Notes

Use medium to medium-low heat when glazing to prevent burning the honey. Let the chicken rest after cooking to keep it juicy. You can substitute apple cider vinegar with lemon juice. For a spicy twist, add smoked paprika or cayenne pepper to the glaze.
