Quick and easy grilled shrimp skewers coated in a flavorful garlic butter marinade, perfect for busy weeknights or outdoor gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) raw shrimp, peeled and deveined, medium to large size
  • 4 tablespoons (60 grams) unsalted butter, melted
  • 3 large garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, freshly ground, to taste
  • Wooden or metal skewers (soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes to prevent burning)

Instructions

  1. Rinse and pat dry 1 pound (450 grams) of peeled and deveined shrimp. Drying is important so the garlic butter sticks well. Set aside.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 4 tablespoons (60 grams) melted unsalted butter, 3 minced garlic cloves, 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice, 2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, salt, and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Stir well until everything is blended.
  3. Toss the shrimp in the garlic butter mixture, making sure each piece is coated evenly. Let it sit for 10–15 minutes at room temperature.
  4. Thread the shrimp onto soaked wooden skewers or metal skewers, about 5–6 shrimp per skewer. Leave a little space between each shrimp so they cook evenly.
  5. Heat your grill to medium-high (about 400°F / 200°C). Make sure the grates are clean and lightly oiled to prevent sticking.
  6. Place the skewers on the grill. Cook for about 2-3 minutes per side, turning once, until shrimp turn pink and opaque with light grill marks.
  7. While grilling, brush the shrimp with any leftover garlic butter sauce for extra flavor and moisture.
  8. Remove from grill and let the skewers rest for a minute. Garnish with fresh parsley or a squeeze of lemon if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

Soak wooden skewers in water for 30 minutes before grilling to prevent burning. Dry shrimp thoroughly before marinating to ensure the garlic butter sticks well. Avoid overcooking shrimp to prevent rubbery texture. Baste shrimp gently with garlic butter while grilling to keep them juicy. If using smaller shrimp, reduce cooking time slightly.
