These savory mini ham and cheese sliders with a tangy Dijon butter spread are quick, easy, and perfect for game nights or casual gatherings. The combination of melty cheese, smoky ham, and buttery Dijon crust makes for a comforting and crowd-pleasing snack.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 soft slider buns (King’s Hawaiian or any soft dinner rolls)
  • 12 slices smoked deli ham
  • 12 slices sharp cheddar cheese (or Swiss cheese)
  • 1/2 cup (113g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder or 1 clove fresh garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon poppy seeds (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Slice the slider buns horizontally, keeping the top and bottom layers intact to form one big sandwich in your baking dish.
  3. Arrange the bottom halves in a 9×13-inch baking dish evenly so all 12 fit snugly without gaps.
  4. Layer the ham slices evenly over the bottom buns, folding slices slightly for volume.
  5. Add a slice of sharp cheddar cheese on top of the ham.
  6. Place the top halves of the buns over the cheese layer and press down gently.
  7. In a mixing bowl, combine melted butter, Dijon mustard, garlic powder (or minced garlic), Worcestershire sauce, and onion powder; whisk until smooth.
  8. Brush the Dijon butter mixture generously over the top of the sliders, coating every bit of bun.
  9. Sprinkle poppy seeds evenly over the buttered top, if using.
  10. Cover the baking dish loosely with aluminum foil.
  11. Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes.
  12. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 5-7 minutes until tops are golden and slightly crispy.
  13. Remove from oven and let sliders rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

If tops brown too quickly, tent with foil during baking. For extra melty cheese, add more slices halfway through baking. Use fresh buns for best results or spritz day-old buns with water before assembling. Sliders can be assembled ahead and refrigerated up to 24 hours before baking; add extra baking time if baking from cold. Leftovers reheat best in oven at 325°F for 10 minutes. For vegan version, substitute plant-based butter and dairy-free cheese, and swap ham for sautéed mushrooms or roasted vegetables.
