Crispy Air Fryer Salmon Recipe with Easy Honey Soy Glaze and Sesame Seeds

A quick and easy recipe for crispy skin salmon cooked in an air fryer, topped with a sweet and savory honey soy glaze and toasted sesame seeds for a crunchy finish.

  • 4 skin-on salmon fillets, about 6 ounces each
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 3 tablespoons low-sodium soy sauce
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 2 tablespoons toasted sesame seeds
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)
  • Freshly ground black pepper, to taste
  • Thinly sliced green onions for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the skin-on salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  2. Brush both sides lightly with olive oil and season with freshly ground black pepper.
  3. In a small bowl, whisk together honey, soy sauce, minced garlic, grated ginger, and rice vinegar until smooth.
  4. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  5. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer and cook for 7 minutes without touching.
  6. Carefully brush the tops of the salmon with the honey soy glaze, reserving some glaze for serving.
  7. Continue cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the glaze is bubbly and salmon flakes easily with a fork.
  8. While salmon cooks, toast sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for 2-3 minutes until golden and fragrant.
  9. Transfer salmon to plates, spoon over remaining glaze, and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds and sliced green onions if using.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry thoroughly for best crispiness. Apply glaze after skin crisps to avoid burning. Do not overcrowd air fryer basket. Let salmon rest briefly after cooking. For gluten-free, substitute soy sauce with tamari. Sesame seeds can be swapped with toasted almonds or pumpkin seeds if allergic. If no air fryer, broil salmon skin-side up for 8-10 minutes, then flip and glaze, broil 3 more minutes.
