A quick and easy air fryer salmon recipe featuring crispy skin and a luscious lemon herb butter sauce, perfect for busy weeknights and special occasions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 skin-on salmon fillets, about 6 ounces (170 grams) each
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • Juice of half a lemon
  • Zest of half a lemon
  • 2 tablespoons fresh herbs (parsley and dill), chopped
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes
  • Optional: 1 teaspoon honey

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to help the skin crisp up.
  2. Lightly brush both sides of the salmon with olive oil and season generously with salt and pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3-5 minutes.
  4. In a small bowl, combine softened butter, lemon juice, lemon zest, minced garlic, and chopped herbs. Mix until smooth. Stir in red pepper flakes or honey if using.
  5. Place the salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  6. Cook for 7-9 minutes depending on thickness, until salmon is opaque, flakes easily, and skin is crisp.
  7. Remove salmon from the air fryer and spoon a generous dollop of lemon herb butter over the hot fillets to melt.
  8. Serve immediately while skin is crisp and butter is melting.

Notes

Pat salmon skin dry before cooking to ensure crispiness. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket. Add lemon herb butter after cooking to preserve fresh flavors. Butter can be made a day ahead and refrigerated. For dairy-free, substitute butter with ghee or plant-based butter.
