A silky, smooth, and festive Halloween dip featuring a creamy cheesecake base topped with a chocolate spider web design. Perfect for parties and easy to make in about 20 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz (225 g) full-fat cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sour cream
  • 3/4 cup (90 g) powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream
  • 6 oz (170 g) semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by letting it sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese and sour cream. Beat on medium speed for 2-3 minutes until smooth and creamy.
  3. Gradually sift in the powdered sugar while mixing slowly to avoid a sugar cloud. Add vanilla extract and a pinch of salt, then beat at medium speed for another minute until fully incorporated.
  4. Pour in the heavy cream and beat on high speed for 1-2 minutes until the dip is light and fluffy but still thick enough to hold its shape.
  5. Spread the cheesecake dip evenly in a shallow serving bowl, smoothing the top with a spatula. Chill in the fridge for at least 30 minutes to firm up slightly.
  6. Melt the chocolate chips using a double boiler or microwave in 30-second bursts, stirring between, until smooth.
  7. Remove the dip from the fridge. Drizzle the melted chocolate in concentric circles over the surface, starting from the center outward. Then, drag a toothpick from the center outward through the chocolate lines to create the classic spider web effect. Clean the toothpick between each drag for neat lines.
  8. Put the dip back in the fridge for about 15 minutes to let the chocolate set slightly before serving.

Notes

Use full-fat cream cheese for best texture. Soften cream cheese fully to avoid lumps. Melt chocolate slowly to prevent burning. Drizzle chocolate in concentric circles and drag a toothpick from center outward to create the spider web. Chill dip before and after adding chocolate for best results. Can substitute sour cream with Greek yogurt or use dairy-free ingredients for vegan version.
