These pinwheels combine whole grain wraps, creamy softened cream cheese, and savory turkey slices for a quick, satisfying snack that’s perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • Medium-sized whole grain tortilla wraps
  • Thinly sliced deli turkey breast (low-sodium, nitrate-free preferred)
  • Softened full-fat cream cheese
  • Fresh herbs (chives, dill, or parsley), finely chopped
  • Freshly ground black pepper
  • Optional: lemon zest
  • Optional: mustard or hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Soften the cream cheese by leaving it at room temperature for 5 minutes or microwaving for about 15 seconds on low power.
  2. In a small bowl, mix the softened cream cheese with finely chopped fresh herbs (about 2 tablespoons), a pinch of black pepper, and optional lemon zest until smooth.
  3. Lay each whole grain tortilla flat on a clean surface or parchment paper.
  4. Spread an even, thin layer of the cream cheese mixture over each tortilla, leaving about a ½ inch border around the edges.
  5. Arrange turkey slices evenly on top of the cream cheese layer, overlapping slightly but not piling too thickly.
  6. Optionally, add a thin spread of mustard or a few drops of hot sauce on the turkey before rolling.
  7. Roll the tortilla tightly but gently from one edge, using parchment or plastic wrap to keep it tight.
  8. Wrap the rolled tortilla in plastic wrap and chill in the refrigerator for at least 15 minutes to firm up the filling.
  9. Remove from fridge, unwrap, and slice into 1-inch thick pinwheels using a sharp serrated knife, wiping the knife clean between cuts if needed.
  10. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.

Notes

Softened cream cheese spreads best when at room temperature or microwaved briefly. Chilling the rolled wraps before slicing is essential to keep pinwheels neat and prevent filling from oozing out. Use a serrated knife for clean cuts. Wraps can be warmed slightly in the microwave wrapped in a damp paper towel to make rolling easier. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days; freezing is not recommended.
