A refreshing and easy-to-make agua fresca featuring fresh watermelon, mint, and lime with no added sugar. Perfect for hot days and a natural, hydrating drink option.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 cups watermelon, cubed (seedless if possible)
  • 1012 fresh mint leaves, gently torn
  • Juice of 1 large lime (about 2 tablespoons / 30 ml)
  • 2 cups cold water
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Optional: pinch of sea salt
  • Optional: agave or honey (if a sweeter touch is desired)

Instructions

  1. Cut about 6 cups (900g) of watermelon into cubes, removing seeds if any.
  2. Place the watermelon cubes and 10-12 torn fresh mint leaves in your blender. Blend on high for 1-2 minutes until smooth and juicy.
  3. Pour in the juice of one large lime (about 2 tablespoons / 30 ml) and 2 cups (480 ml) of cold water. Pulse a few times to combine.
  4. If desired, strain the mixture through a fine mesh strainer into a large pitcher, pressing gently with a spoon to extract all the juice (optional).
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness by adding a teaspoon of agave or honey if preferred. Add more water if the flavor is too strong.
  6. Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or serve immediately over ice cubes. Garnish with extra mint leaves or a lime wedge if desired.

Notes

Use ripe watermelon with deep red color for best natural sweetness. Tear mint leaves gently to avoid bitterness. Straining is optional depending on texture preference. Keep chilled and add ice just before serving. Can be stored in fridge up to 24 hours but mint flavor may intensify.
