These mini charcuterie cones are easy, elegant, and perfect for New Year’s Eve celebrations, offering a handheld mix of cured meats, cheeses, fruits, and crunchy accents.

Ingredients

  • Mini waffle cones or paper cones (sturdy, non-soggy)
  • Thinly sliced cured meats (prosciutto, salami, pepperoni)
  • Cubed or shredded cheeses (sharp cheddar, brie slices, goat cheese)
  • Fresh fruits (grapes, apple slices, berries, pomegranate seeds)
  • Crunchy elements (roasted almonds or pecans, mini pretzels, crunchy crackers)
  • Pickled accents (small gherkins or olives)
  • Fresh herbs (rosemary or thyme sprigs, optional)
  • Spreads or dips (honey mustard or fig jam, optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your ingredients (about 15 minutes): Thinly slice cured meats into bite-sized strips. Cube or slice cheeses into small pieces (about 1/2 inch). Wash and dry fruits thoroughly; slice apples thinly and toss with a small squeeze of lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. Assemble crunchy and pickled elements (5 minutes): Portion nuts, pretzels, and pickled items into small bowls for easy access during assembly.
  3. Optional spread prep (5 minutes): If using fig jam or honey mustard, set out a small spoon to lightly brush the inside of each cone before filling.
  4. Fill the cones (10-15 minutes): Starting with a small spoonful of spread if using, layer ingredients carefully: a bit of meat, followed by cheese, fruit, and crunchy bits. Aim for a balance so every bite has a little of each texture.
  5. Garnish and arrange (5 minutes): Add a small herb sprig on top or tuck in an olive for color and aroma. Stand cones upright on your serving tray or in holders for easy grabbing.

Notes

Slice meats thinly for tenderness. Combine soft and firm cheeses for texture contrast. Dry fruit pieces well to prevent sogginess. Layer spreads first, then dry and crunchy items to maintain texture. Assemble cones within 30 minutes of serving to keep cones crisp. Store components separately if preparing ahead. Toast crunchy nuts or pretzels for 3-5 minutes at 350°F to refresh.
