A festive and easy-to-assemble patriotic charcuterie board featuring a selection of American cheeses, meats, fruits, nuts, and crackers, perfect for summer holidays and gatherings.

Ingredients

  • Sharp Cheddar, cubed (aged 6 months for best flavor)
  • Pepper Jack, sliced (adds a subtle spicy kick)
  • Brie, whole wheel or wedge (soft and creamy, room temperature)
  • Colby Cheese, sliced or cubed (mild and buttery)
  • Summer sausage, sliced thin (choose a smoky or spicy variety)
  • Honey-roasted almonds or pecans (adds crunch and sweetness)
  • Seedless red grapes (for color and juiciness)
  • Dried cranberries or cherries (for tartness)
  • Fresh strawberries, halved (optional, for extra red pop)
  • Multigrain crackers (choose sturdy ones that hold toppings)
  • French baguette slices, lightly toasted
  • Local honey (a drizzle over brie is divine)
  • Dijon mustard (pairs well with sausage)
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs (for garnish and aroma)
  • Olives or pickles (optional, for briny contrast)

Instructions

  1. Remove brie from the fridge 30 minutes before assembling so it reaches room temperature.
  2. Cube the cheddar and Colby cheeses into 1-inch pieces, slice the pepper jack thinly, and set aside.
  3. Using a sharp knife, slice the summer sausage into thin rounds. If pre-sliced, arrange loosely.
  4. Rinse grapes and strawberries, pat dry, and halve the strawberries. Place dried cranberries or cherries in a small bowl.
  5. Toast nuts lightly in a dry pan for 2-3 minutes to bring out their aroma if desired.
  6. Toast baguette slices lightly until golden but still tender.
  7. Lay out crackers in small clusters rather than one neat line to encourage grazing.
  8. Start by placing the cheeses spaced evenly apart on the board. Add the brie with a cheese knife nearby.
  9. Surround cheeses with meats and fruits, alternating colors and textures.
  10. Tuck in small bowls of honey and mustard. Scatter nuts and rosemary sprigs for garnish and aroma.
  11. Leave some spaces for guests to pick from easily.
  12. Drizzle honey over the brie if desired, and add a few olives or pickles if you want a salty contrast.
  13. Adjust spacing for balance and flow.
  14. Serve at room temperature to highlight textures and flavors.

Notes

Let cheese sit at room temperature 30 minutes before serving for best flavor and texture. Avoid overcrowding the board to keep it inviting. Pre-slice cheeses and meats for convenience. For gluten-free, swap crackers and bread for gluten-free alternatives. Add fresh herbs and fruit just before serving if prepping ahead.
