A patriotic-themed charcuterie board featuring red and blue cheeses paired with fresh fruits, nuts, and charcuterie meats. Easy to assemble and perfect for summer gatherings or Fourth of July parties.

Ingredients

  • Red Leicester or Red Windsor cheese (3 to 4 ounces per person)
  • Stilton or Roquefort blue cheese (3 to 4 ounces per person)
  • Charcuterie meats: prosciutto, soppressata, or spicy chorizo (2 to 3 ounces per person)
  • Fresh red fruits: strawberries, raspberries, or cherries
  • Fresh blue fruits: blueberries or blackberries
  • Crackers and breads: water crackers, baguette slices, or multigrain crisps
  • Nuts: Marcona almonds or candied pecans
  • Honey or fig jam for drizzling or dolloping
  • Fresh rosemary, thyme sprigs, or edible flowers (optional)

Instructions

  1. Remove cheeses from the fridge about 30 minutes before assembling to bring them to room temperature.
  2. Slice Red Leicester or chosen red cheese into thin wedges or cubes about ½-inch thick.
  3. Crumble Stilton or Roquefort blue cheese into bite-sized chunks with varied sizes.
  4. Fold or roll thin slices of prosciutto, soppressata, or chorizo into loose bundles and place in small clusters around the board.
  5. Wash and pat dry all berries. Place nuts in small ramekins or scatter lightly around the board.
  6. Fan out water crackers and baguette slices in accessible spots, ensuring they are not crushed.
  7. Arrange cheeses spaced evenly on the board, then add meat clusters nearby, followed by fruits and nuts.
  8. Fill gaps with rosemary sprigs or edible flowers for color and aroma.
  9. Drizzle honey or spoon fig jam into small bowls for dipping. Optionally add olives or pickles.
  10. Step back and adjust the board to ensure a balanced and inviting spread.

Notes

Remove cheeses from the fridge 30 minutes before serving to enhance flavor and texture. Use thin slices and bite-sized pieces to encourage grazing. Prepare the board close to serving time to keep fruits fresh. Optional edible gold leaf flakes can add a festive touch. For dietary adaptations, use gluten-free crackers or plant-based cheeses as needed.
