A quick and easy frozen margarita with a refreshing twist of fresh basil and sweet strawberries, perfect for summer gatherings and hot days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (300g) frozen strawberries
  • 10 fresh basil leaves, roughly chopped
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) fresh lime juice (about 2 limes)
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) orange liqueur (Triple Sec or Cointreau), optional
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) simple syrup, adjust to taste
  • 1 cup (240ml) ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming the glass, optional

Instructions

  1. Pour some coarse salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rims of your glasses and dip them into the salt to coat. Set aside to dry while you prepare the drink.
  2. Squeeze fresh lime juice until you have about 1/4 cup (60ml). Strain out any seeds.
  3. Add frozen strawberries, fresh basil leaves, tequila blanco, orange liqueur, simple syrup, fresh lime juice, and ice cubes into the blender.
  4. Pulse on high for about 30-45 seconds or until the mixture is smooth and slushy. Adjust thickness by adding water or more lime juice if too thick, or more ice cubes if too thin.
  5. Taste and adjust sweetness or acidity by adding more simple syrup or lime juice as desired. Blend briefly again to mix.
  6. Pour into prepared glasses and garnish with a fresh basil leaf or a strawberry on the rim.
  7. Serve immediately for best texture and flavor.

Notes

Pulse basil with tequila and lime juice first to release flavor without bitterness. Use frozen strawberries for best texture. Avoid over-blending to prevent ice melting and watering down the drink. Rim glass with salt for added flavor contrast, optional. For non-alcoholic version, omit tequila and orange liqueur and replace with sparkling or coconut water with extra lime and syrup.
