A quick and easy frozen watermelon margarita featuring fresh watermelon, tequila, and a zesty lime and salt rim for a refreshing summer drink.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups (600g) fresh seedless watermelon chunks, chilled
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) fresh lime juice
  • 2 tablespoons (30 ml) triple sec or Cointreau
  • 12 tablespoons (1530 ml) agave syrup
  • 2 cups (about 300g) ice cubes
  • 1 teaspoon lime zest, finely grated
  • 2 tablespoons coarse sea salt
  • Optional: 1 tablespoon Tajín seasoning for spicy rim

Instructions

  1. Prep the glasses by rubbing a lime wedge around the rim to moisten it.
  2. Dip the rims into a plate with coarse sea salt mixed with lime zest or Tajín. Set aside to dry slightly.
  3. Cut fresh watermelon into chunks and chill for at least 30 minutes.
  4. In a blender, combine chilled watermelon chunks, tequila blanco, fresh lime juice, triple sec, agave syrup, and ice cubes.
  5. Blend on high until smooth and slushy, adjusting consistency with cold water or lime juice if needed.
  6. Taste and adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more agave syrup or lime juice as desired.
  7. Carefully pour the margarita into prepared glasses without disturbing the rim.
  8. Garnish with a small wedge of watermelon or a thin lime wheel if desired.
  9. Serve immediately to enjoy the best icy texture.

Notes

Keep watermelon and glasses chilled to prevent dilution. Use solid ice cubes instead of crushed ice for better texture. Do not overblend to avoid melting ice. Fresh watermelon is preferred over frozen for best flavor. Adjust sweetness and tartness to taste. For a spicy twist, use Tajín seasoning on the rim or add jalapeño slices to the blender.
