A quick and easy summer party drink that balances sweet strawberries and tart lemon with a vodka kick, perfect for backyard gatherings and poolside hangouts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, hulled
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lemon juice (about 45 medium lemons)
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup water (for simple syrup)
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 2 cups vodka
  • 2 cups sparkling water or club soda
  • Ice cubes
  • Optional garnishes: fresh strawberry slices, lemon wedges, fresh mint leaves

Instructions

  1. Rinse 2 cups of fresh strawberries and hull them. Place them in a blender or food processor and puree until smooth, about 1-2 minutes. Add 1-2 tablespoons of cold water if needed to help blend evenly.
  2. Roll 4-5 medium lemons on the countertop, cut and squeeze to get 1 cup of fresh lemon juice. Strain to remove seeds and pulp if desired. This takes about 5 minutes.
  3. In a small saucepan, combine 3/4 cup granulated sugar with 3/4 cup water. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves completely. Let cool to room temperature, about 7-10 minutes.
  4. In a large pitcher or punch bowl, mix the strawberry puree, fresh lemon juice, and cooled simple syrup. Stir well to combine.
  5. Add 2 cups vodka and 3 cups cold water to the mixture. Stir gently and taste; adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more simple syrup or lemon juice if needed. This takes about 2 minutes.
  6. Refrigerate the punch for at least 30 minutes to chill and allow flavors to meld. Alternatively, add plenty of ice cubes to cool quickly.
  7. Just before serving, stir in 2 cups sparkling water or club soda for a bubbly finish. Fold in sliced strawberries, lemon wedges, and fresh mint leaves for garnish. Serve over ice.

Notes

For a smoother punch, strain the strawberry puree through a fine mesh sieve. Use large ice cubes or frozen strawberry puree cubes to keep the punch cold without diluting it quickly. Chill vodka, water, and glasses beforehand for a crisper drink. Prepare strawberry puree and simple syrup a day ahead for convenience. Add sparkling water just before serving to maintain fizz. Adjust sweetness and alcohol strength to taste. Non-alcoholic version can be made by omitting vodka and adding extra sparkling water or lemon-lime soda.
