A vibrant and festive charcuterie board featuring red strawberries, white cheeses, and blue blueberries arranged like a patriotic flag. Perfect for 4th of July celebrations or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

  • Assorted crackers (multigrain, water crackers, or your favorite store-bought brand)
  • Thinly sliced baguette or artisan bread
  • Sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • Goat cheese, softened
  • Fresh mozzarella balls (small bocconcini)
  • Pepperoni slices (thin)
  • Salami slices
  • Fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • Fresh blueberries
  • Fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme
  • Honey or fig jam (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash the strawberries and blueberries thoroughly. Hull and slice the strawberries into thin, even pieces.
  2. Slice the cheddar cheese into thin, rectangular strips about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Drain the mozzarella balls and pat dry.
  4. Cut the baguette into thin 1/2-inch slices. Optionally, lightly toast the slices.
  5. Lay the sliced strawberries in neat rows on the board to form the red stripes of the flag, leaving room for white stripes.
  6. Place alternating rows of cheddar cheese slices and mozzarella balls between the strawberry rows to form the white stripes.
  7. Arrange a tight cluster of blueberries in the top left corner of the board to create the blue star field, covering about a quarter of the board’s width and two-thirds of its height.
  8. Fan out the pepperoni and salami slices along the edges or empty spaces on the board, folding or curling slices for dimension.
  9. Scatter fresh rosemary sprigs or thyme leaves around the board for garnish.
  10. Place a small ramekin of honey or fig jam nearby for optional drizzling.
  11. Adjust any pieces to ensure the board looks balanced but not overcrowded.

Notes

Chill cheeses before slicing for cleaner cuts. For curled pepperoni, warm slices in a pan for 1-2 minutes until edges curl. Keep the board chilled if prepping early to keep cheeses fresh. Avoid stacking ingredients too high to prevent difficulty picking. Serve at room temperature for best flavor. Store leftovers in airtight containers and consume within two days. Toast bread slices before serving if desired.
