These easy no-bake chocolate peanut butter protein balls are quick, satisfying, and completely oven-free. Made with simple pantry ingredients, they come together in under 15 minutes and are perfect for meal prep, post-workout snacks, or a healthy treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (180g) rolled oats
  • 1 cup (250g) creamy peanut butter
  • 1/3 cup (110g) honey
  • 1/2 cup (90g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons (14g) flaxseed meal (optional)
  • A pinch of salt
  • Optional mix-ins: 2 tablespoons chia seeds, hemp seeds, or shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Combine the dry ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the rolled oats, flaxseed meal (if using), and a pinch of salt. Stir to distribute evenly.
  2. Add the wet ingredients: Add the creamy peanut butter, honey, and vanilla extract on top of the dry ingredients.
  3. Mix everything together: Stir with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until well combined. It may seem dry at first, but keep mixing for 2-3 minutes until the peanut butter and honey coat all the oats.
  4. Fold in the chocolate chips: Add the chocolate chips and fold gently until evenly distributed.
  5. Chill the mixture: Refrigerate the mixture for 15-20 minutes to make it firmer and easier to handle.
  6. Roll into balls: Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, scoop portions and roll between your palms to form 1-inch balls. If sticky, lightly wet your hands.
  7. Place on prepared baking sheet: Place each ball on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate, leaving a little space between them.
  8. Final chill: Refrigerate the rolled balls for at least 30 minutes to firm up completely.
  9. Transfer to storage container: Once firm, transfer to an airtight container and keep refrigerated.

Notes

If the mixture is too dry, add an extra tablespoon of honey or peanut butter. If too wet, add a few more oats. The texture should be like thick cookie dough. For best results, chill the mixture before rolling and wet hands slightly if sticky. These protein balls taste even better after a day in the fridge as flavors meld.
